The mechanical properties mainly include tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, area or reduction, hardness, impact value, non-metalic inclusion etc. Different heat treatment, the mechanical properties will be different, such as normalized, tempered, QT. 6:Heat Treatment
Forging - Commence 1200ºC (2190ºF) Max.
Double Annealing - Austenitize 850ºC to 865ºC (1560ºF to 1590ºF)Quench and tempered
Machinability: Double Anneal at 635ºC to 650ºC (1175ºF to 1200ºF)Do not exceed 660ºC (1220ºF)
A Hardness of 269 HB Max is achievable
Normalize, Temper & Stress Relieve - Austenitize 850ºC to 865ºC (1560ºF to 1590ºF).Air cool to room temperature
Temper 530ºC (990ºF), air cool
Stress Relieve 500ºC (930ºF), air cool
Hardened & Tempered Austenitize 850ºC to 865ºC (1560ºF to 1590ºF) Forced air cool or oil quench. Temper at 200ºC (400ºF), air cool.
7: Delivery condition
For hot forged rolled bar, usually the delivery condition is hot forged or rolled, annealed/QT, rough turned/Black surface.
For hot forged or hot rolled bar, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed/QT, Black surface.
For hot forged plate, usually the delivery condition is hot forged, annealed/QT, milled surface/Black surface
For hot rolled plate, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed/QT, black surface.
